Webinar panelists will include Laura Ferrisexecutive vice president of Selene Diligence; Lisa Heitzman, Chief Operating Officer of Deephaven Mortgage; and Mike SmelzerSVP for non-QM products at Newrez.

Ferris joined Selene in March 2020 and brings over 20 years of varied experience in the property industry to her role. His experience and leadership focused on new product development, operational efficiency, customer relationships and revenue growth. In her current role, Ferris leads the due diligence process for Selene, actively manages client relationships and provides final approval for securitizations.

Prior to joining Selene, Ferris was COO at Alta Residential Solutions, a Pretium company, where she established an REO removal and refurbishment company. She has also held senior management positions at Green River Capital, where she held positions in property management, loss mitigation and valuations. She oversaw all day-to-day operations for 23 unique clients and was responsible for creating custom layout solutions, as well as maintaining top rankings for all clients.

Heitzmann, is currently Chief Operating Officer of Deephaven Mortgage, responsible for ensuring an exceptional experience for all Deephaven clients and borrowers. Specifically, Heitzmann oversees all key operational functions, including internal underwriting and the provision of wholesale and correspondent services. She works side-by-side with her fellow executive team members and senior executives to imagine the ideal lending products and processes. Once defined, she applies her deep experience in credit, risk, compliance, quality and production to develop practical and achievable strategies to achieve them.

Lisa earned the Certified Mortgage Banker (CMB) designation from the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) and holds a BSBA, summa cum laude, from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.

As SVP for Non-QM Products at Newrez, Smeltzer is responsible for managing non-QM origination production across all Newrez origination channels. He plays a key role in the growth of Newrez’s non-QM production, through product development through credit risk, capital markets and the support required for each individual channel. Smeltzer also oversees the implementation of a single-scenario specific utilization program to ensure loans are closed within proper guidelines and prepared for securitization.

Smeltzer brings over 23 years of underwriting management experience to his new role. Prior to joining Newrez, he served as Director of Credit Risk at Angel Oak Home Loans, where he was responsible for the company’s non-QM and jumbo products, including creating new products and establishing an appropriate credit policy. He also has previous underwriting experience with SunTrust Mortgage, Fannie Mae, Real Estate Mortgage Network (REMN), Just Mortgage Inc. and Taylor Bean and Whitaker.
